Hello
I am a Lighting Designer interested in building worlds through light, shaping atmosphere, tension, and rhythm to support bold, visually driven storytelling.

My work leans towards the expressive and the unexpected. I’m drawn to contrast: softness against starkness, intimacy against scale, moments that feel quietly observed alongside those that feel heightened and theatrical. I like light that feels alive; responsive to performers, space, and the energy in the room.

I approach design collaboratively, developing ideas closely with directors and creative teams, while bringing a strong technical grounding. With a background in stage management and production, and experience working internationally as a Head of Department in China, I design with both creativity and practicality in mind. Understanding how to realise ambitious ideas within real-world constraints.

Recent work includes the re-light of The Fight (dir. El Higgins), and I continue to develop a practice that is visually distinctive, adaptable, and rooted in clear storytelling.

This site is a snapshot of that work, a mix of realised designs and ongoing explorations.

My Story
I come from a performing background, having been involved in singing and performance from a young age. I’ve always been drawn to creative spaces, from music and drama to visual art; and developed an early instinct for composition, atmosphere, and detail. I’ve always had an eye for something a little different, which continues to shape my approach to lighting design.

I’m particularly interested in how visual ideas can feel instinctive rather than overworked, often building designs through reference imagery and visual research. My work leans towards the expressive and the unexpected. Balancing softness with starkness, intimacy with scale, and creating light that feels alive within the space.

My training at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama gave me a foundation in both creative and technical practice, but it’s the experiences beyond that which have really shaped my approach. Working hands-on in technical warehouses grounded me in the physicality of lighting, while gaining experience alongside The 1975 shifted my perspective on scale, rhythm, and how light operates within large, high-energy environments.

Travel has also played a significant role in shaping my perspective. Through work and personal experience, I’ve encountered a range of cultures, spaces, and ways of making theatre. International connections, including time in France with Ayrton through the Women in Lighting collective, continue to expand how I think about light and design.

These experiences come together to inform a practice that is instinctive, collaborative, and technically grounded, creating work that is both bold and considered.
